Develop work in response to a brief set by an external client

Working with the Department of Parliamentary Archives of the Houses of Parliament, I was asked to produce a contemporary graphic design interpretation of diverse archival materials.

My starting point was to select one of three Acts of Parliament. Thorough research lead me to “Representation of the People Act 1918”. The Playground is a Zine I developed to bridge the gap between the Suffragette’s Right to Vote Movement and the educational information that young adults are ill-informed on. I chose to focus on the main three suffragette/suffragists who impacted the movement. The Playground became a way to deliver light hearted and informative content. Each frame introduces new content to build further into the chosen suffragette story. Incorporating minimal visual language of a comic book in its use of modular grid structure and stylised lines. Bright, pastel, palette was used to help the look feel more contemporary and playful.
